Privacy policy
The short version: Timeliner doesn't collect any information about you or your children. There are no accounts, no tracking, no analytics and no adverts. Your routines are kept on your own devices and, if you use it, in your own private iCloud account, where we can't see them.
Who we are
Timeliner is made by Fledermaus (Joshua Clare), an independent developer in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email hello@timeliner.contact.
What we don't collect
- There are no accounts or sign-in, and Timeliner has no server of its own.
- There's no tracking, advertising or analytics, and no crash reporting or usage statistics.
- The app contains no third-party code or software development kits (SDKs).
- We never receive your name, email address, location, contacts, photos or anything else about you.
What the app stores, and where
To work, Timeliner keeps:
- your routines: their names, times and steps
- the children or classes they belong to: a name, an icon, and either a child's birthday or a class's typical age, which is used only to adjust the app's wording and design
- which steps have been ticked off today
- your settings
This information is stored on your device. If you use iCloud, it's also kept in your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) so your devices stay in step. It belongs to you, and we can't see it or get to it. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app's Settings.
Home screen and Lock Screen widgets read the same information on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Reminders
Reminders are notifications scheduled by your device itself. There's no notification server, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
The grown-up check
If you choose a passcode, it's stored only on your device, as a scrambled one-way code (a salted hash) in the iOS Keychain. It can't be turned back into the passcode. If you choose Face ID or Touch ID, iOS handles it entirely: the app is only told whether the check passed and never receives any biometric information.
Purchases
Upgrades are bought through Apple's App Store. We don't receive your payment details or any personal information about you. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchases.
Children
Timeliner is used with children but set up by adults. Settings and purchases sit behind the grown-up check, and Apple adds its own confirmation for purchases. There are no links out of the app, no chat and no sharing. Because we collect nothing, we hold no information about any child.
Deleting your information
- One child, class or routine: remove it in the app. It's removed from every device that syncs with iCloud.
- Everything on one device: delete the app. Its information is removed from that device.
- Everything in iCloud: on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage, choose Timeliner, and delete its data.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal information, including the right to see it and to have it deleted. As we don't hold any information about you, there's nothing for us to hand over or erase. Everything is in your hands, on your devices and in your iCloud account. If you have a concern, please email us. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes to this policy
If Timeliner changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page before the change reaches the app, change the date at the top, and mention it in the app's release notes on the App Store.
